Drishti is something that is mostly believed by the Indian people as well. More specifically, according to South Indian culture, Drishti is referred to as the expression of negative thoughts. It is said that even our lives are affected by this negative view. The Indian people refer to this Drishti as the “Evil Eye”.
Various rituals are performed to protect us from this danger and to resist this evil eye. Dried chilies, camphor, lemon, pepper, coconut, and crystalline salt are used to counteract this negative energy. Apart from these, toys with scary facial features will also be used to ward off evil spirits. Drishti dolls would have been hung outside most houses and Hindu shops in South India. It is believed that these toys will divert the evil eye and save us from danger.
