The black cumin, commonly known as Nigella sativa, is an annual flowering plant belonging to the Ranunculaceae family. The native place of this flowering plant is south and southwest Asia. This plant grows up to 20–30 cm in height, and it contains linear leaves. The flowers are delicate, their usual colors being light blue and white with 5to 10 petals. It includes three to seven united follicles, and each follicle has numerous amount of seeds. Black cumin has many medicinal and health benefits. It is also used as a spice in many dishes.
