Baliospermum montanum is also known as Wild castor, Red Physic Nut, wild sultan, and wild croton. This plant comes under the Euphorbiaceae family. It is a stout and monoecious undershrub, which grows up to 2 meters in height. This shrub is highly found in sub-Himalayan regions, central India, Bihar, West Bengal, and Peninsular. The leaves are small upper and large with sinuate-toothed and sometimes 3-5 lobes in the palm. A few female flowers below and more male flowers above are arranged in racemes on the axils. The fruits are capsules, 8-13 mm long, and ovate. Seeds are elliptic, smooth, and pubescent. The flowers of this plant bloom from January to February. This plant is well grown in a humid climate. It is one of the medicinal herbs that is widely used in Ayurvedic medicine to cure many ailments. Each part of these plants is used in traditional medicine. It contains antibacterial, antioxidants, anticancer, and antimicrobial properties.
