English Name : Cutch Tree, Heart Wood Tree
Cutch Tree is also known as Acacia catechu; it is a moderate-sized deciduous, thorny tree that grows up to 15 meters in height. The cutch tree stems are dark brown to black; Its bark is very rough, it is peeled into long strips on mature trees; Young trees have a corky bark. The leaves of this tree are 100-200 mm long, with 8 to 30 pairs of small leaves. The flowers of the cutch tree are pale yellow and white with 5 to 10 cm long. The pods that are brown contain 3 to 10 seeds and each seed is 50-125 mm long.
The cutch tree is native to Nepal, Pakistan, India, Burma, Indonesia, and Thailand. This tree is commonly known as Catechu, Black catechu, Khair tree, Black cutch, Wadalee gumtree, and more. The bark, wood, and twig of this tree are highly used for medicinal purposes. It is an excellent remedy for skin ailments and blood-related disorders.
